EU Cypriot presidency | The Aphrodite’s island between crises and conflicts

On July, the first, Cyprus will start to chair the European Union for six months in a extremely difficult context. This island that is located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea is partly under control of Turkish troops for almost forty years. She is also involved into a grave economic crisis and Russia could increase its presence in the Cyprus business. Beside, Syria at war is not very far. Thus, Cyprus is at the intersection of various intertwined crises and conflicts. It recalls us that the West cannot forget his East. The « brave new world » is not undoubtedly a peaceful utopia.
